How did the dog go unnoticed? I find it strange that a yard full of people didn’t no one noticed the dog but that’s the way the story goes. Now, this dog is running towards her as she explained in the story. I would’ve reacted in the same manner, inside the house. She describes the dog as “shepherd-like, faintly curling tail, long wolfish nose.” The usage of these adjectives describe the dog perfectly to the reader, I can almost picture the dog in my mind. That illustration and word usage was spot on. So, as she continue to observe the dog through a shut door, (brilliant!) she walked out of the door and says it caused a “fireworks of desperate joy”. Could you imagine the way that dog could’ve felt when he thought he saw a familiar face? I would imagine that fireworks would be a way to describe it. She was able to reach the owners of the dog as the dog followed her foot to foot.
