Communication and cultural leveling are a two examples where globalization has created large impacts on the society of the United States and countries all over the world. The globalization of technology plays a significant role in peoples’ lives, and it is one of the largest reasons why people all over the world feel connected and involved in one another’s lives. New and advanced technology is allowing people to talk to people they had never had a conversation with before, and it also allowed people who have spread away from each other to keep contact with one another. Enhanced communication is one of the amazing byproducts of globalization. Even centuries ago, the globalization of technology was allowing communication to grow. Cultural leveling has started to take place because all cultures now have access to new ways of thinking, customs, and technology to change their own culture (Henslin 58). Cultural leveling does have its positive aspects because it allows people from all over the world to immerse themselves in different culture or learn new ways of thinking about the world and culture. For example, westernization has greatly impacted all cultures that come in contact with it. Western ideas, customs, and attitudes are able to shift to other cultures and countries and influence that people that live there. Westernization is easily accepted in most places it travels, especially in Asia where the western cultural is widely seen as a part of daily life (Rubin). Cultural leveling has allowed many wonderful things to spread to cultures that are willing to accept it. Advanced technology, military power, and new social customs all come out of cultural leveling (Henslin 58). Westernization is not so easily spread, though. Places like the Middle East are very resistant to westernization because they want to protect their own culture.
