Therefore, they ensure the children go to bed at 7:30 pm. He stated that he gets six hours or less per day because of his business, job, having most of the responsibilities of the family as well as chores in and around the house. He knows that adequate rest is vital for concentration and safety during work and driving. He thinks he can become fatigued and get injured which would impair his role as a father, husband and negatively affect their finances. Suggestions were made to have earlier bed times when there were no papers to mark, getting Mrs. Parkes more involved, and make easy prepared dinners and or leftovers.

Mrs. Parkes stated that each family has at least one bowel movement on a daily basis. However, occasionally she may use a mild over the counter laxative if needed. Her belief is that it is important to rid the body of toxic substance and maintain health.

They believe it is necessary to be able to function as a part of the family and society. Mr. Parkes considers sensory impairment a sign of ill health and may add to the financial burden of the family.
Self-Perception
Mr. Parkes considers himself as a bread winner and is responsible for providing for his family. He believes his wife may not be able to ‘handle too much stress’ and therefore he does more than his fair share. It is a difficult role, but he sees it as necessary to keep the family together and his wife healthy and happy.
Role Relationship
Despite, the demands of his job and running his business he is the primary care giver. He acknowledges that he does everything for the boys, most of the household chores and the yard work. His wife helps with homework at times, but he enjoys spending time with the boys. The children are not old enough to do much, but he thinks the roles of he and his wife will help to raise healthy children.
