So can graffiti improve an area or is it providing a negative effect? Across the UK there has been a stark increase in the amount of graffiti that we see on our streets. Graffiti is often viewed, by many as an illegal, anti-social activity that creates negative impressions of an area. It is the opinion of some that where graffiti is present there is also an increase in other crimes such as vandalism. But also that the presence of graffiti affect’s how people feel about crime in a particular area. However, with graffiti becoming a more popular art form, some people see a way in which disaffected youth can be encouraged to participate in the appearance of their communities.
