Mrs. Stanton was an American suffragist, social activist, abolitionist, and one of the leading figures during the early women’s rights movement. One of her most honorable works that became well known was called the Declaration of Sentiments, which called for civil rights for women and was presented at the Seneca Falls Convention, in New York, in 1848. Her work was credited with the start of the first organized women’s rights and women’s suffrage movements in the United States.
