Friar Lawrence thought their marriage would end the family feud. Friar originally was not going to marry them, but then he thought that if he did maybe it would end the fighting between the two families. He was also trying to get Romeo back into Verona. He had talked to Romeo before he left Verona, and Romeo said he would rather be dead than be exiled. If Friar was able to get Romeo back to Verona they would have been able to do their plan, and Romeo and Juliet would have been able to hide away together in Friar Lawrence’s cell. Another reason is because Friar Lawrence did not want Juliet to kill herself over having to marry Paris. He thought if he gave her this potion, and if they did their plan, then she would not have to marry Paris and she would still be alive. Overall, Friar Lawrence was just trying to save Juliet’s life and make everyone happy.
The three characters of the Nurse, Friar Lawrence, and Lady Capulet did not mean any harm, but Lady Capulet should have some consequences for her actions. Romeo and Juliet went to fast, and they never got the chance to stop and think. Going fast is not always the right thing to
