Guns Should Not Be Allowed In Schools Essay

Improved Essays
I am against teachers and faculty being able to carry weapons on school property. It is more of a risk to have weapons in school than not. Accidents happen all the time. In a suburban elementary school in Salt Lake City, a teacher with a concealed carry permit accidently shot herself in the leg. No one else was injured but what if the next time an accident happens a more serious injury occurs or a student is shot. It is also possible that a student finds the gun. If a teacher does not properly conceal the weapon and a student gets a hold of it, that individual may cause harm to themself or others around them. Even if guns are allowed in schools, it should not be anonymous. Some parents do not feel that their child is safe in such an environment.

Much of the authority over whether to allow guns in schools rests at the state and local levels. In Ohio, school boards are allowed to arm school personnel but are not required to notify the public that they have done so. In some states, teachers and other employees can carry a gun without anyone’s knowledge, including that of school authorities, so long as they hold a valid concealed-carry permit. No one knows how many schools in the United States have armed teachers or staff members. It was a free three day gun class in Rittman k-12 public school employees offers by the Buckeye Firearms.…

Many teachers and administrators are unsure about how pupils may handle altercations and stressors of everyday campus life with the easy access of guns and worry that talking to students about their schoolwork and grades can cause retaliation. Another problem they face is how much it will cost and what it will take to beef up security on campuses. Firearms should not be…

Dear Lamar Times Editor, April 13, 2018 We are students at Purvis Middle School and we would like to talk about an argument that we feel strongly about, which is the topic of arming teachers. Recently people have been talking about arming teachers. People say that this will lead to less school shootings and it might, but there's more to this than people realize and it will be a lot harder said than done. Have you ever thought of the teachers position? How would the teachers feel?…

What I think... Teachers should not have guns because what if a kid got caught in a crossfire of the guns. Another reason that teachers should not carry guns is like at a high school kids if they got left in a room Unattended and the teacher the the gun in the desk and the kid knew it and the kid got ahold of the gun. Then that would end in disaster. Another reason that teachers should not have guns is that what if a student had been constantly annoying and being disrespectful and the teacher finally just snapped and shot the kid, that would send the teacher to jail and the kid either to heaven or to the hospital. Another reason that teachers should not have guns is that teachers are there to teach the kids not be a security guards or a babysiter.…

I do believe that teachers with the proper training and license should be allowed to have guns on school property if they so choose. Although allowing teachers the right to have a gun on school property will not solve all of the world’s problems it can be a step in the right direction. Allowing teachers that meet…

    1. False: This statement is false because, in recent years, a number of precautions have been taken to reduce gun violence in schools. Certain federal and state laws have made schools gun free zones, and, as a result, fewer students are carrying guns, and it is more difficult to get a gun into a school zone. Also, many schools have surveillance cameras placed on school grounds, which may deter those planning to commit a school shooting. Another action taken to reduce the danger of a school shooting is requiring students to use see through backs packs to reduce the chance of a firearm entering school grounds.…

Gun Control: Why Then Not Ban Everything that Poses a Potential Threat Gun Control is laws or policies that regulate the manufacture, sale, transfer, possession, modification, or use of firearms. Allowing Gun Control in our country will only minimize the rights our founding fathers granted us with. Although many believe that Gun Control is a solution to prevent crimes, studies on countries that already adopted Gun Control show no decrease in crimes. Gun Control will only detriment citizens by not allowing them to defend themselves or their property.…

Guns do not kill people. People kill people. There are a lot of reasons that gun control is not the answer. I am strongly against gun control, because I think that if we go through with these laws it will not help. I think it will increase the deaths by guns, and I do not want people to die, that is why I am against it.…

These teachers should go through the most intensive background check because they have the ability to hurt a lot more kids than a random person trying to shoot up a school. If the teachers can get a hold on a gun and then tell the guy with the gun that every class is packed and ready to shoot then I believe the maniac will come to his senses and get out of the school. I feel the same way about guns in the workplace. For example at my mom's shop, she was looking at the cameras and someone was breaking into a truck late at night and instead of my mom having a gun for self-defense at her work place she had to take cover as the robber shot a bullet in her direction. This is why I feel so strongly about gun rights and where you can and can't take them.…
