Selective attention is a form of processing the brain uses to focus on one subject or event at any given time (Lecture). This form of aptitude can be concluded where the brain uses different subcategories for representing sensory information. Although the body uses sensory information to perceive its current environment, events such as sleep deprivation and stress can alter the brain 's ability to conceive information over a certain period. A study was performed to test the fundamental principles of occurrence of sleep deprivation and the amount of stress. During the period the subjects were exposed to a task that involved motor skill by tossing a ball, another test was used to test the semi motor learning skills by translating a page of text into Morse code. During their insomnia period, the skills increased slightly yet leveled at a constant rate. The final test included abstract learning where the individuals were constituted to multiply a set of number mentally. Yet this trial showed a decrease in performance during the insomnia period and proved that sleep deprivation impacts the mind 's ability to complex thinking while physical attributes were not affected yet increased in …show more content…
