SUMMARY:
Claudius convinced Laertes that Hamlet killed his father and he was their enemy. The letter arrived and Claudius found out that Hamlet was still alive. He was confused but he devised a plan. Claudius told Laertes that Hamlet envied Laertes’s skill with sword. He ought to use this skill and lure Hamlet into a duel with Laertes. Claudius will poison Hamlet’s sword and drink. He believed that they need to create another trick to truly kill Hamlet. Gertrude rushed in with the news of Ophelia’s death. She said that Ophelia drowned in the river while she was gathering flowers. Laertes was devastated by the news.
