Actually they are the most tested and regulated product. They also do not cause cancer or autism. They have not caused an illness or death in the 20 years they have been in the market. All leading health organizations support the safety of GMOs.
GMOs keep the cost of food as low as possible. If they were not grown it is estimated that corn products would be 6 percent higher and soybean-based products would be 10 percent higher. The cost of producing the GMO products is actually less because they use less pesticides and fuel. It is hard to estimate all of the new technology, but the herbicide tolerance and insect resistance has helped keep prices down. New technology and techniques have helped keep prices down.
GMO crops are good for the environment because they help farmers use their land better and their water resources better. They can grow despite conditions such as drought, poor soil and insects. GMO crops help farmers to grow more food without having to use more land. GMO crops can help the farmer to kill the soil less often. When the farmer kills less often, the soil has less runoff. It also helps to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. By planting GMO crops the farmer is able to improve his farm's soil and prevent water
