High blood pressure according to MayoClinic is a common condition in which long-term force of the blood against your artery walls is high enough that it may eventually cause health problems, such has heart disease ( www.mayoclinic.org). However, hypertension commonly know has high blood pressure is much more common in the African American community. There was a study done in an urban ambulatory internal medicine clinic in southeast Michigan. Enrolled in the study where African Americans aged 18 to 85 years of age. The result of this study showed that African American was the most prevalence of any other group (Larsen et al.,2014, p.801). Many physicians refer to high blood pressure as the silent killer mainly because you could have it and not know the condition is present. Social problems with hypertension could turn into other health illness, for instance, stroke and cardiovascular disease.
