The play Our Town is, simply put, about life and how we choose to live it. It is not noticed upon first watching the play that it is about anything other than an ordinary family just doing what everyday people do, but after analyzing it you discover it’s about much more and relates to the life that each person lives every single day. It sounds incredibly simplistic: a movie about a mother and daughter who share a bond like no other. They share great moments throughout the movie. Curiosity blooming and wheels turning, Bernice approaches her mother for advice. Birdie Pruitt says to her daughter, “I always thought I was gonna be, I don't know, special. But I'm not. I'm just an ordinary person. And that's ok.” This quote relates back to Our Town because, like I said before, most people in the play are normal and don’t feel the need to change who they are.
