For the past 7 years of my childhood, I have attended Camp Cheerio for 1-2 weeks. To me, it is more than camp; it is the one place where I feel most at home. Every morning at camp, I wake up to beautiful scenery and my best friends’ beautiful faces. At camp, everything becomes clearer, my life becomes happier, and my relationship with God becomes stronger. Home is where one feels most comfortable and happiest. The friendships I have developed at camp will last a lifetime. The greatest lessons and morals I have learned are from that mountain top. I have experienced things I never thought of and I have achieved goals I never knew I had. At camp, they influence us to be ourselves and to follow all of our interests. Most teenagers would probably tell you that the beginning of their adulthood was marked by having to do laundry for the first time, or being able to drive alone, or perhaps no longer sitting at the children's table at family events. But for me, it happened this past summer, when I made the very difficult decision that I would not return to Coleman Country Day Camp. To those who were not fortunate enough to have grown up at summer camp, this might not seem like such a big decision to make. But Coleman was my outlet, my second home for ten consecutive summers and spending those two months anywhere else seemed inconceivable to me.…

In her book What Happened to Goodbye, Sarah Dressen wrote: “Home wasn't a set house, or a single town on a map. It was wherever the people who loved you were, whenever you were together. Home isn’t just a place, it is a feeling, an experience.…
