The person who helps slaves escape usually get sent to jail for 6 months or get subjected to $1,000 fine. Harriet Tubman was well aware what would happen to her if they were to get caught. She also knew what would happen if she left them there. If she left them there it would most likely end up in death. Back then slavery was very brutal. They beat slaves and worked them to death.
But Harriet Tubman took that risk to save people like her. Eventually after she escorted all the slaves to freedom later. But in 1860 Harriet Tubman goes back to Maryland through the tunnels for the last rescue mission. In 1861 an outbreak of civil war starts after Confederate troops fire at Fort Sumnetr. In 1862 Harriet Tubman works to be a nurse for the Union in South Carolina. In January 1st, 1863 Abraham Lincoln announces that all slaves would be freed in the Confederate.
Harriet freed all the slaves from torture. I personally am very inspired by her bravery. It took a lot of bravery to risk your own life for others. Harriet Tubman was a really inspiring woman.
