In 1965 President Lyndon B. Johnson awarded Disney with the Presidential Medal of Freedom. Walt Disney a game changer in movie production, was an imaginative and innovative producer.
Walt Disney was an imaginative artist. One example that shows that Walt was imaginative is “An american filmmaker and entrepreneur, Walter Elias Disney (1901-1966) created a new kind of popular culture in feature-length animated cartoons and live action “family” films” (Walter Elias Disney). This supports Walt Disney as an imaginative artist because his new kind of pop culture would change animation forever. Also it would become the base of his company. This is just one thing that shows Walt is imaginative. Another example is “He went on to a long and successful career producing cartoons, feature length-films , and wildlife documentaries, then branched out into television during the 1950’s and broke ground in that medium as well” (Kaufman). Walt was not only successful in animation but he was very diverse. He broke ground with many things and imagined different ideas. He was successful in many more than one genre. …show more content…
An example of how he was innovative is”This project was an incredible challenge for the still infant art of animation: to create seven reels of action in Technicolor with a fully developed story line involving both human and animal figures, as well as creatures of the imagination” (Inge). This is evidence to Walt being innovative because he took something simple and changed it into a complex film not successfully done by anyone else. Walt not only created this complex film but in the eyes of society it became very popular. Something els that shows how innovative Walt was is “On July 18, 1957, Disney opened Disneyland, a gigantic projection of his personal fantasies in Anaheim, California, which has proved the most successful amusement park in history with 6.7 million people visiting by 1966” (Walter Elias Disney). The popularity of Walt’s theme park is evidence of him being innovative, it shows that he could create something so new and different but still have it become so popular so quickly. With this theme park Walt was putting his ideas out to the public not knowing what would happen but it became so successful. My third piece of evidence is “In 1971 Disney World in Orlando, Florida opened.Since then, Disney theme parks have opened in Tokyo and Paris” (Walter Elias Disney). Disney theme parks where a very innovative idea when he first came up with them, it was something new and fresh. That would become the main economic support to his
