I actually had to work to get a spot on the team. Luckily in tryouts, I do not try to hit home runs and actually made solid hits. I have always excelled in my position, right field, with zero errors; I was slightly cocky. I would have been fully cocky if my throwing was a good as my ego was. Although I made the team, I was surrounded by amazing players. My first practice as a freshman was exhausting. We had to sprint everywhere we went, and we had to strenuous workouts throughout the week. There were only two freshman, so we did not get treated too bad. Out teammates actually encouraged us and quitting in any aspect was a non factor. I stayed quiet on the team for a while, but I eventually came out of my shell tot he older girls and started to enjoy their company. This was all preparing us for the season coming into the next month. I saw many improvements in practice, and the coaches always commended me on my improvements. After all the hard work our first game came. I checked out the line-up and I was a designated hitter, not playing in the field but hitting in place of someone who is. I was saddened by this, but I was going to go up there and hit it out the park to prove to them that I should play for the entire game. I went up to bat and struck-out without even touching the ball. That happened every time I went up to bat that game. My team made me keep my head up high, but my coaches had a long conversation planned for
