Essay On Abortion Is Murder

Abortion is arguably the most prominent issue in the United States. Whether it comes to political policy or just someone’s moral standpoint, abortion means so much to citizens. The Bible does not directly touch upon abortion. Nowhere in the text does it directly say the word “abortion,” however it does discuss a baby’s life. In many instances, it speaks of the baby’s life and how it is sacred. Jeremiah 1:4-5 states “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you” (The Holy Bible), God was saying how he knows the child before they are born and has a plan for them. Every life is sacred, whether they are born or not. The Bible in many ways describes how a child’s life is sacred whether born or not, abortion is not supported by the Bible and this is …show more content…
Under the ten commandments it states that “Thou shalt not kill” (The Holy Bible). For anyone who is a pro-life supporter they will argue that abortion is murder. You are downright killing an unborn baby. As stated in The Bible Now “In Hebrew as in English and some other languages, killing is killing, and murder is murder. The commandment in the Decalogue is “you shall not murder.” One can be against abortion or for it. One can have a strong conviction that abortion is murder or that it is not.” (Friedman, & Dolansky, 5). This concept all comes from the idea of how a certain person interprets the Bible. Anyone who is a pro-life supporter will interpret this concept that abortion is murder. When you break it down it is in fact murder. As stated earlier God has a plan for everyone before they are born. A baby is formed from conception and in majority of cases an abortion is performed when the child has already started to develop. Therefore, these cases help show how abortion is indeed murder. Also, another way to back up that it is murder is if a human fetus is considered as a scared human being. In Red Letter Christians Campolo discussed how “For most Red Letter Christians, the issue comes down to whether or not a human fetus is a sacred human being created in God’s image. If the answer to that question is yes, then abortion must be regarded as murder- and there is no doubt that murder is forbidden in the Scripture” (Campolo, 5). Campolo raises quite a few points here. Ultimately he is saying that if a fetus is considered a sacred human being than there is no doubt that abortion is murder. Well in many cases it has been previously stated that god has had a plan for you from conception and therefore that is helping reinforce how a fetus is regarded as a sacred human being. Campolo declares how there is no doubt that murder is forbidden in the Bible, and since a fetus is considered to be a sacred human

It robs its victim of more than anything else could. As fetuses have a future that is like that of any adult human, aborting a pregnancy is depriving them of that future and therefore, must be morally wrong. This is known as the valuable future view and can be summarized in the following argument, The Valuable Future Argument. It is morally wrong to kill any adult human because killing them deprives them of all the potential value in their future- that is, their valuable…

Since the 1900s women have found ways to have rights. On January 22, 1973 the U.S. Supreme Court said it was a woman’s right to have an abortion due to the Fourteenth amendment. This case, Roe v. Wade, is a case that went down in history and to this day, still has the public bickering over the results. On one hand, you have citizens that are pro-life and believe life is created at conception, and that every life is valuable and should not be destroyed. On the other hand, you have citizens that are pro-choice and believe life does not start until the child is born into the world, and up until that point it should be up to the woman if she wants to keep the fetus.…

It is seen by pro-life activist that when a baby is conceived, he or she is recognized by God as being life. Bible verses that are often referred to during arguments are Jeremiah 1:5 which says “Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee…” clearly giving evidence that every child before out of the womb is recognize by God. Abortion isn’t murder until at least 24 weeks after conception/fertilization. This is where most people are confused. It 's easy to argue that a baby is a baby but yet at the same time scientifically a human isn 't considered a human until at least 20 weeks. From conception until 24 weeks it 's just considered a sac of cells and given the name “fetus” which normally we refer that name to an unborn baby.…

There are many verses in the bible showing how abortion is wrong. Deuteronomy 30:19 says “I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, that you and your children may live”. This verse may not relate directly to abortion, but it shows our purpose in life and shows that we were created with a purpose and a reason in everything that happens to…

Christians and Catholics follow one of the Ten Commandments: “thou shall not murder” and they believe that it includes to fetuses. However no physician or Pope has ever declared a fetus a person. If a fetus is not a person then abortion is not murder and it has no rights. However even without the religious component we as humans have generally valued life and abhor murder. We want humanity to continue and abortion would seem to impede population growth.…

There has been a long existing debate of “Pro-Life” versus “Pro-Choice” about whether or not women should be able to abort a child. Many people being Pro-Choice will use the argument that the fetus isn 't a living person, and rather that it is the woman’s body; therefore the woman’s choice. There are other options women have such as adoption: waiting until the baby is born and providing the child a well-suited family to properly care for them. I believe any way you can avoid aborting a child is better than abortion because you give the child a chance for life. An unborn child in the womb contains all of the characteristics for it to be considered living, proving abortion is morally and scientifically wrong.…

Abortion is murder and should be seen as a sin. God said “You have heard that the ancients were told ‘YOU SHALL NOT COMMIT MURDER.’ and whoever commits murder shall be liable to the court.” (The Lockman Foundation, The Bible, New Testament, 1997,3,Matthew 5:21.) Abortion should be illegal because a woman would be committing murder of an unborn child.…

Abortion has been around for quit sometime now, and its support is only getting stronger. Advocates of abortion emphasize one’s ability to have the choice of whether that person wants to keep the baby or not. They believe that the person that was conceived is technically not a human being yet, and is a person once the mother has given birth to the child. Because they believe that the person they are aborting is not a human, it is then okay to end its life. They make arguments such as having the option of abortion will help victims of rape, incest, or if the person is just not ready to have a child.…

The holy scripture, which is the blueprint of Christianity, speaks against any form of murder. God values all forms of life, and according to the Bible, human life begins at conception. The book of Jeremiah 1:5 states that, “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.” This verse and others buttress the point that human life starts right away, therefore termination of pregnancy at any point of gestation is murder. God’s plan for humans might be different from ours.…
