Cummings, uses several cases of figurative language throughout the poem to describe how madly he loves and adores his wife. This poem is rich with imagery. For example, this line here is a clear example of the imagery used in this love poem, which states “and this is the wonder that’s keeping the stars apart.” This line leaves an indelible mark on the reader. In Babylon Revisited, the main character, Charlie, suffers from dissatisfaction and isolation, because he had rough past in which he was an alcoholic and his wife died and his daughter had to live with his sister in law, Marion. Because of this rough past, Charlie has a hard time convincing Marion and her husband to let his little girl live with him because he changed and he is no longer an alcoholic like he once was but a better person who loves and cares for his daughter. Likewise, in A Cat In the Rain, the woman is also suffering from dissatisfaction and isolation, because she is upset about her hair, not being able to keep the cat, and because her vacation didn’t turn out the way she wanted it too. She and her husband are the only Americans staying in the hotel which is way she also feel isolated from people from
