Women during that time were expected to the most while getting nothing in return and Brady was tired of it. When she says she wants a wife, she does not literally want a wife. Instead, she wants the privileges that men have who rely on their wives for everything. A major claim that Brady makes is that when it comes to sexual needs, men are very selfish. She states, “I want a wife who is sensitive to my sexual needs, a wife who makes love passionately and eagerly when I feel like it, a wife who makes sure that I am satisfied” (Brady 110). In satiric fashion, the author emphasizes that men only care about themselves being satisfied and mentions nothing about making sure the women is satisfied. I very much agree with this point that the author makes. More often than not, when it comes to sexual wants and needs, men are selfish. This might because it is “a man’s nature” to respond better to physical desires while women respond better to emotional desires. For a man who does not follow the values that Brady presents, an article that assumes that all men treat women the same could dramatically offend them. A more straight-forward and compromising style could have been more effective. The article “I Want a Wife” discusses a very important and controversial topic even in today’s society. All throughout history, men are stereotypically perceived as being above women, and that the only role of a woman is to reproduce and obey the man. Brady brings up the issue by exaggerating how degrading men view women and their role in society. Although I feel like she makes false accusations and exaggerations about men, many of her points speak truth about the equality issue the still exist in today’s day in age. The fight for equality is strong,
