Identify
First and foremost, a company must identify their customers as individual by getting their personal information because all the customers are unique. A company should know who their customers really are and have a deep knowledge of them. A company may identify their customer through any possible ways according to their characteristics such as age, lifestyle, spending habit and so on. Identify
By doing research about the customer’s data, Maybank are capable to identify each of their customers. The information of customers such as occupation, income and spending pattern are the essential factors for Maybank recognize their customers. It is because Maybank need to identify the needs and wants of the customers for Maybank products and services. For instance, a customer who wishes to buy a new house may want to grant for car loan. Undeniably, customers who have the characteristics which are stable job, higher income and more spending are more potential to Maybank due to more demand for banks products.
Differentiate
Maybank has divided their customers into four segments which are platinum, gold, iron and lead by using customer pyramid. Firstly, the platinum customers are the most loyal customers and heaviest user in Maybank because they usually use Maybank products and services such as credit cards, unit trust and others. Next is the gold categories customers, they are not so loyal like platinum and may go to other banks if they have a better offer. For iron segment customers, they are not loyal to Maybank because they will go to the bank that has the best offer to them, so Maybank has pay lesser attention to them.
