Pirate Concessions utilizes a cash register at each stand. This process tracks each transaction and produces a running tape for our records. We also can print summary reports at the end of every event. We do not routine offer customers a receipt. Most customers do not want a receipt, but we can print one. We have a sign visible which states will can provide a receipt upon request.
During busy periods, each student employee is assigned a station for food preparation and customer service. One student is responsible for handling cash at all times. This minimizes errors and provides us with a method to track cash. While the positions might be rotated for cross training purposes, one student holds the cash handling position for the entire shift.

We have numerous customers who approach the window and when asked, state they want candy or a soda. We cheerful help them determine which of our options they wish to purchase based on their personal preferences. If a customer is indecisive about what to get, we ask probing questions to determine likes and dislikes so we can direct them towards menu items to fit their needs. Most customers do know what they want and the transaction is simple. However, we do our best to ask them questions to improve sales and meet their needs.
Suggestion Selling:
Suggestive selling is the process of asking customers if they would like to purchase additional items. We utilize this technique whenever possible. Not only does it increase sales, but it saves customers time since they do not have to return to the concession stand for items. If they order a hamburger, we ask them if they would like to upgrade to a cheeseburger or bacon burger. We suggest adding chili and cheese to baked potatoes for an additional charge. We offer customers additional products. When a customer orders popcorn, we ask if they would like a soda. If a customer orders one sucker, we ask if he would like to purchase four for a dollar.
