In view of the significant opportunities Integrated Reporting presents for Nigeria, it becomes clear that its adoption will be invaluable to the growth and development of organisations on a micro level and the nation at a macro level. However, it is important to note that irrespective of the policy mandates which may establish Integrated Reporting as a new standard, Nigeria’s ability to harness its tremendous potential is hinged on the commitment of business leaders to bring it to life within their organizations, without compromise. The Business Dictionary defines Transformational Leadership as a “Style of leadership in which the leader identifies the needed change, creates a vision to guide the change through inspiration, and executes the change with the commitment of the members of the group” (http://www.businessdictionary.com/definition/transformational-leadership.html). This definition is consistent with that of leadership expert, James McGregor Burns who is attributed to have introduced the concept of transformational leadership in 1978 and defined it as a process where "leaders and their followers raise one another to higher levels of morality and motivation."
