Just because a person has economic advantage, more resources, or even more quality of access to justice does not mean that he or she has more power to do as he or she wishes over others. According to De La Cruz, “White privilege… is an overreaching, comprehensive framework of policies, practices, institutions and cultural norms that undergird every aspect of U.S. society.” (De La Cruz, 2003) Not everyone feels the same towards Native Americans causing people to be skeptical in the use of any N.A culture. Many want to get rid of these “Indian” missuses, while others swear that the local N. A’s have approved the usage of their attire, culture, or impersonation etc. As mentioned, in an article “The Washington Post published a poll on its front page that 90 percent of “Native Americans” were “not botherd” by the dictionary-defined ethnic slur “Redskins,”. This implies that they were not, statistics are not facts therefore it is not true simply it is raw data that is posted online. How Native Americans feel about this situation may never be know to people in reality unless it is accessed with them in person. Indian mascots are not the only controversies to talk about in this racial, non-educated situation. As stated in an article, “Pressure to eliminate Native American-themed nicknames and mascots from California’s schools has been around at least the 1960s.” (Mcphate, 2016) This claim proves that this miss use of Native American names, images or clothing has been around in the 1900s. A major protest called “The Indigenous Rights Movements” which occurred due to the wanting of banning of the football team called, “The Washington Redskins”. There are slang words people use and that are not politically correct in terms of use such as “Redskins” or “Nigga”. “Redskins in this case is used wrong and discriminates the N. A’s because that word was used by the “Whites” white settlers as a way to count the number of “Indian” scalps they captured. I am axiom towards with what the author indicates in the reading because she expresses that we are not all racists. That is false because in my opinion racism has always been around and still is. Racism towards N. A’s is the same as discrimination to African Americans for being “Black”, and black is just a skin
