Employment relation is the legal link that is present between the employees and InterContinental Hotels. As InterContinental Hotels is a hospitality company it is most likely dependant on its employees to carry out their most of important activities.

For ensuring a good employee relation, InterContinental Hotels has its employee relation program in clearly written so that there is no misunderstanding between employee and InterContinental Hotels. InterContinental Hotels has employee relation representitative who works in the human resource management to ensure that the rules, regulation of InterContinental Hotels is fair and consistent and also works with employees and their supervisor to bring solution to problems. Abiding by the rules and regulation of UK government, InterContinental Hotels has made sure that their brand name and image is maintained in the market.
2.2. Effects of employment law on the management of human resources in InterContinental Hotels Group PLC
Employment law by UK government contributes in shaping and influencing the human resource management of InterContinental Hotels as well as it helps to maintain a better relation between InterContinental Hotels and the employees. The laws make sure that the rights of both the employees and employers, in this case InterContinental Hotels, are safeguarded which assures a safe work environment and also maintaining the employement laws is beneficial for good brand name and image.

National Minimum Wage Act 1998
The minimum wage that the workers at InterContinental Hotels should get per hour that is entitled by law is set by National Minimum Wage Act 1998. The workers at InterContinental Hotels has to be paid the national minimum wage to the least otherwise it will be an illegal act by the company and so HR manager should have the knowledge about this act.
Employment relations Act 2004
Establishing appropriate relation between employer (INTERCONTINENTAL HOTELS) and the employees is the main objective of this law. Simplification of the legal requirement, widening the ability of the unions, extension of protection against dismissal etc. are the rights that are discussed in this act. HR manager should aware of this law to avoid any kind of circumstances that might create obstruction while reaching to the company
