Island Of The Blue Dolphins Analysis

In my speech, I will be describing the trials and triumphs of solitude, and the bittersweetness that come after. In both The Diary of Anne Frank and Island of the Blue Dolphins, there is a time of isolation with both times of optimism, and also pessimism.
In both Island of the Blue Dolphins and The Diary of Anne Frank, the book starts off with an average girl of her time and place without anything to write a book about, but then their lives take a turn for the worst. In Island of the Blue Dolphins, Karana, the main character, loses her father in a unnecessary battle over otter pelts and what is a fair share. While as World War Ⅱ starts, Anne Frank, the author of The Diary of Anne Frank, goes into hiding because her whole family is Jewish, and being Jewish isn’t the best in that time.

Karana finds happiness in Rontu her dog, and Anne finds love with Peter Van Daan. The negative of both lives were that they took another turn for the better then their hopes were shattered. Anne is so close to being free and coming out of hiding, but then is found and sent to a concentration camp where she then dies of a sickness. Karana is also found, but she is taken back to the civilized world, then learns that the boat that carried her whole tribe had sunk with no survivors.
All-in-all, both Anne and Karana start off as average girls, with average lives, but Island of the Blue Dolphins and The Diary of Anne Frank both describe how the girls lives are ripped apart by evil people, and how the girls cope. Now I ask you this, would it have been better for Karana and Anne to stay average for the rest of their life, and have a happy ending, that no one would have known about, or was it better that, even though it wasn’t a happy ending,eople’s lives were changed by the girl’s
