The British were stopping American ships and cries for war were getting louder.In jams Madison’s first inaugural address he said it was the government’s duty to convert the Indians to our way of life.Also in his first year as president he said the was to be not trade with the british or france.In 1810 said they would trade with some countrys but not britain. Still a group call the “War Hawks” pressed about the military policies. In 1812 James Madison knew war with the British was inevitable.
So he asked for a declaration of war.
