Jim Crow Summary Response Notebook The Jim Crow Laws were local and state segregation laws that ruled harshly in the South and remained enact until later in 1965. Throughout a documentary based off of the Jim Crow laws there was shocking information and information common but was gone into greater detail in this hour long video. This video gives a great viewpoint from both sides of the war on segregation with the interviews that had constructed. First, presented will be a summary of the movie and detail about aspects of importance in the video. Later on, a reflection of this video meshed aside personal responses. These were kids in the school that were torturing the African American students. They had to have learned to treat them like this from somewhere. And it was mainly the parents poisoning the minds of their kids and pushing their beliefs onto them. It was also a use of media consistently illustrating the African Americans as inferior to the white population. This subject made me so angry because I believe it is still seen today. The parent’s views are pushed onto the kids and they blindly follow and don’t have the opportunity to create their own views. My freshman year roommate’s boyfriend was an extremely racist individual. He constantly had racist jokes and opinion’s that was unwanted but he would state out loud anyways. I have a diverse family and group of friends very close to my heart and I, even though I am white, often found myself offended by his opinions and jokes. My cousins have a father that came over from Africa about thirty years ago and met my aunt. My uncle is one of the nicest guys I know; he would do anything for me. And my 5 cousins are half African and did not deserve the discrimination they had in high school. I am willing to bet money that my roommate’s boyfriend’s father also has the same views his son does. This student was openly racist and if offended me. He often made jokes about going to the “Black Lives Matter” banquets and activities. It is so appalling to me that even in this day and age I see so much
