Skills were shared with those on Justin’s team (job coach and caregiver) so that they could be applied across multiple domains in his life. Plans were developed to target the presenting problems listed above. Those plans included exploring the root cause of Justin’s anger, teaching problem solving skills, building his social support network, creating safe boundaries that he can enforce, dealing with past trauma, becoming more heavily involved in vocational services, and learning how to live independently. Justin was directly involved in every level of intervention.
Supervision Guidelines: Justin is not considered to be a community protection client. He may be left unattended for extensive periods of time provided the environment is structured and a support person can respond quickly in an emergency situation. He is permitted access to the community and is able to leave his home to participate in activities in the community. His attendance is considered good, and he comes to each session ready to unpack his week and discuss the challenges he is experiencing. Concepts explored and addressed included: labeling and identifying anger, creating a genogram and timeline discussing family and history, brainstorming strategies to use when emotionally dysregualted, role playing social situations, creating plans to decrease anxiety, and resolving past history of trauma. Justin is an active learner and desires help for his anger, anxiety, and fantasies of hurting others. He has followed many of the recommendations given to him by this provider and appears to have experienced positive outcomes as a result. Our therapeutic alliance appears to be positive and gaining strength. Moving forward, Justin will be encouraged to take stretch himself by being more vulnerable to others and allow them to see behind his rough exterior because he has more to offer then what he current
