There are many examples of similar characters in the two novels. Pip and Katniss have much in common. In chapter forty- four, page three hundred thirty-four Pip talks to miss Havisham. “ ‘I suppose I did really come here… as a kind of servant, to gratify a want or a whim, and to be paid for it.’ ‘ you did.’…
Scott and Sharon 's Similar Style No two humans are exactly the same. With seven billion people on Earth, a person’s personality is what sets them apart from everyone else. Everyone has a different experience of life, perspective and mind. It is how a mother tells her identical twins apart and what makes an applicant stand out in a job interview.…
The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins takes place in a post apocalyptic society where the only way to keep the “districts” in check is by hosting an annual program, known as a celebration, called The Hunger Games. During The Hunger Games one male and one female between the ages of 12-17 are chosen from each district. They are forced to fight to the death until only one remains as the victor. This year Katniss Everdeen, a poor girl from district 12, volunteers to take her sister’s place in the games. Katniss uses her wit and survival skills to conquer the games along with her new love interest, Peeta.…
Equality and Katniss: Both Similar and Different The author of Anthem and the author of The Hunger Games trilogy never shook hands, but the extensive similarities and sizeable differences between Katniss and Equality are clear. Similarities and differences possess the ability to be unified with each other to recognize strong characters and heroes throughout literatures; however, they can also be put up against each other as opposing forces in constant battle. It is important to take a step back and remember that both similarities and differences should be looked at and admired, as it is what makes each character in a story unique from the others.…
We watch movies and read books with many characters in them. We watch how these characters act and sometimes we try to act like them. Sometimes we see characters that are extremely similar to us and it is absolutely awesome. I found that I am extremely similar to Almanzo from the book “Farmer Boy.” I keep reading and seeing his characteristics…
Heros In the book, The Odyssey by Homer, there are several reasons why Odysseus is heroic which is because he is brave, smart, and powerful. For example, Odysseus is heroic because he is brave. The author states, “Noman has attacked me, the Cyclops shouted back…” (Homer 27).…
“The most dangerous games” Rainsford can be described as an active, fearless and talented person. Rainsford can be described as an active, fearless and talented person. Rainsford is active because he is really fast and quick at anything. This is seen in the story when it says “Then he ran for his life. The hounds raised their voices as they hit the fresh scent” “When he saw or heard someone getting him he ran for it he kept going until he lost them”.…
For my media interest I am going to focus on female empowerment in film. The topic I’m interested in exploring is how the Hunger Games handles masculinity and femininity fairly, as all the characters have both traits. Suzanne Collins breaks the popular culture trend of the damsel in distress by introducing ‘Katniss Everdeen’. Katniss is a perfect example for fans that look up to her as she is strong willed that will do anything to protect the people she loves. Katniss is one of the truest feeling characters to hit the cinemas screens around the world in a long time.…
Katniss: A leader worth following Leadership has a myriad of meanings, defined by a diversity of values, cultures and morals. . Yet despite the variations in these definitions, all leaders must possess certain skills in order to lead effectively. An effective leader is one who recognizes and develops effective followers (Basefsky 34). A compelling leader is also one who gains the support, the respect and the appreciation of their followers. They must be willing to do what is necessary to earn the continuous support of their followers which sometimes includes having to make sacrifices .…
‘The Hunger Games’, written by Suzanne Collins, is set in a dystopian future where teenagers are picked from a bowl full of names to fight for survival in the annual ‘Hunger Games’. Katniss Everdeen, the main protagonist, is a strong, brave, and fierce character. She shows us, in many ways, that family is important and they are worth sacrifice. “I volunteer! I volunteer!…
Have you ever thought of living in a world where as soon as you turn 12 years old, you either had to starve or kill people for someone else’s entertainment? Our lives would be pure horror. The hunger games book is informing us of exactly how we’d feel. The movie however, is purely intended to entertain with a story.…
Another interesting similarity in their physique is that both are described as having brown hair. Now, arguably this is weak evidence when it stands alone. However, when put into context with both characters’ lives the similarity is much stronger. Both of…
In the Hunger Games, the most important similarities the movie shared with the book was making Peeta initiate the idea of him and Katniss being lovers. This is so significant because, without this, most of the main events in the book and movie would never have taken place. For one, this angle would have left Katniss to be just another face in the crowd, not making her stand out, which also meant fewer sponsors, decreasing her chances of survival. However, the most important reason for this is because Katniss would have left Peeta to die when he needed her the most and she would not have been able to plant the small seeds of defiance against the capital. In the movie and novel, the games take a surprising turn when an announcement goes out that…
Jack Woodford once said, “Characterization is an action that flows out of action and dialogue.” As a writer back in the 30’s and 40’s Woodford wrote an extraordinary amount of non-fiction, so he knows what it takes to be a well-liked character in either a story or a movie. Whether it’s being a hero in a movie, or a sacrifice from a small village, these are two things that Katniss Everdeen and Tess Hutchinson had to endure throughout their life. The life that these two characters lived are what formed them into who they are in their story. Although both of those characters seem different, both Katniss and Tessie Hutchinson display a tremendous amount of the same characteristics.…
Similarity is a characteristic of others that influence our tendency to help. Whether we personally know the individual in need of help or not, individuals with similar traits, characteristics, or appearances are likely to receive more help. The characteristic of helping those who are similar shows that people are more willing…
