In media we have produced a film trailer entitled La Mafia; our group consisted of me, Chris, Jeremiah and Onur. The film’s genre is both comedy and action, with the setting being in a school. Throughout the production we set goals to make sure our trailer was unique.
Our production was aimed at the 13 -21 year age group, targeting the B-D social groups, in addition to the Aspirer psychographic group. Our production was more targeted at the male audience, as it utilises the violence/action genre. To attract this specified target audience we have used various effects, techniques and made choices affecting things ranging from visual effects to the smallest details. Some examples of these techniques are our choice of camera shot types, length, angles in addition to the special effects used. Many other techniques used to attract our audience are the colour choice, voice over, title cards, pace and music choice.
One of the main aims of our production was to create a comedic / action film that would revolutionize the comedy film genre at the moment, essentially reviving it and attracting an audience from the action genre. The editing methods used included scene transitions, special effects and scene cutting; these were all used to attract our target audience. The use of special effects included: black and white scenes (which indicated realism, in addition to contributing to the dramatic/comedic build of up character), explosions, slow motion and zooming. Our colour choice for the title cards required experimentation lasting hours and is a prime example of one of the minuscule details of our work.
