Hasn't everyone in society lied to a loved one just for the sake of protecting them? In the four articles that I read they all gave their own opinions of lying which was either favoring lying or completely loathe at the thought of lying. Either way, all of them gave a pretty good generalization of lying in certain situations on how it could positively or negatively affect people. Lying would sometimes be necessary when trying to convince someone or to try to stop them from making bad decisions. Though it could also hurt the person you're lying to in the long run.

Lying is a part of everyday life everyone does it and it's a huge part as a growing teenager. 65% said is was ok to lie if is was to avoid hurting someone's feelings. Lying is just another part of life that everyone ends up growing out off. Teenagers lie just because they can and want too. If a loved one was going to an important ceremony you would want to compliment them instead of saying they look fat in a dress. Even though they might end up looking bad at least the person knows you meant then best for them. Teens will eventually grow out of Lying it's another phase that everyone goes through life.

No one would want another person to worry that the person might be hurt or could end up passing away. It is a way of escaping the reality of a problem or it is a last resort because you do not want to embarrass yourself by being honest. Moreover, the adage “honesty is the best policy” does not always ring true for many. Sometimes we have to lie in order to get to the truth. In Stephanie Ericsson’s “The Ways We Lie,” we find that lying is a natural and unavoidable act.…

For instance, as Allison Kornet stated in The Truth About Lying, “ College students lie to their mothers in one out of two conversations", or such as " dating couples lie to each other in about a third of their interactions"(Kornet). Meaning lies are written all over our daily interactions, whether with our mother or lover. In addition, Alison Kornet claimed in The Truth About Lying, that “lies were told solely for the benefit of another person”, meaning lying is not used in a bad intention but for beneficial purposes(Kornet). But you’re thinking again, how can lying be beneficial in contributing to our everyday functioning? Let me demonstrate it for you.…

If you ask most people do you think lying is acceptable, majority of them will not hesitate and tell you yes, and then give you multiple reasons on why lying is a bad thing. But if you actually sit down and think, everyone lies several times a day sometimes without even knowing it because the lie was so small and meaningless. But in other occasions people lie to protect things they care for and about they are also willing to accept the consequences behind their lies and actions. Some may even feel that lying at that point of time it was acceptable due to the situation they are put in. In the short story “Someone Ought to Tell Her…

Studies show that lying is sometimes acceptable in certain situations to prevent any harm that can be brought on an individual. Lying to protect an individual secures the situation by sugar coating a lie that is being performed. Misleading someone can cause harm such as trust issues and that reflects badly on the person who is lying. Lying must be taken into consideration when it could protect one another. For Example, in the article “It’s the Truth: Americans Conflicted About Lying” by Randy Cohen says, ¨In the AP-Ipsos poll, 65 percent of those questioned said it was sometimes OK to lie to avoid hurting someone's feelings.”…

Teens also said that if you get caught in a lie, just make up another lie to cover up that lie. All this led me to believe that it's only right to lie sometimes in certain occasions. The four articles all gave good examples on why you should or shouldn't or sometimes should lie about sometimes. I think you should not lie for your own gain nor anything else that can cause harm, the whole moral is that you should not really lie. You shouldn't be allowed to lie for your own gain.…

Most people will say that lying is never the answer, but they don’t always tell why. Lying often ends unethically, not only the can the lier be punished or feel guilty in the process, but it often goes further than anticipated. When looking back there seems to be more consequences on the result of the pretense than what the reward would have been if everything worked out and there was no lying. The Salem Witch Trials, the McCarthy Trials, and the McMartin Trials all proved that it is important to always be honest, regardless of the sacrifice.…

In “The Ways We Lie” by Stephanie Ericsson she discusses and breaks down the activity of lying into different kinds of lies. Ericsson goes into great detail of about 10 of them, but there are many more. Some lies are for your peace of mind and maybe still bad for both parties, and some are for the better of someone else’s feelings. Ericsson believes that even if you feel you are perfect, nobody is and still tell lies no matter big or small, we do it and at times are unaware that it is considered a lie. Individuals nowadays get to a point where they are lying and don’t know whether to believe themselves or others.…

you find telling the truth way more easier than it is to tell the lie or “sweet talk” your way out of it. Lies no matter how big or small are going to add up and get much more confusing in the end. When speaking out on the truth its half of most people’s instinct or in my cases it’s not, but after a while and you focus on not telling lies it becomes nearly too almost impossible to lie .Someone or something gives it away and they are left already knowing. Like for example if there was a surprise dinner for someone at work and the person you are throwing a surprise to ask what are you doing for the weekend you say I have this surprise dinner I have to go to and you were just being honest and everyone was trying to be secretive about. If you are an honest person most people will come to you about information or feedback.…

People lie for many reasons in this world, because of the way their brain was trained and the psychological part of it, and depending on the person it could be for the better or worse. Our environment is where we pick everything up from so that contributes to how often a person lies and their reasons. Lies can become very complicated depending on the situation, there are different lies. People also lie because of the good of their heart whether they know if it’s bad or not because sometimes people don’t have a definition of the difference of the two. They want to avoid or fix something in the wrong way but the intentions are good because sometimes there is no right way.…
