Macbeth: The Casting Choices Made By Roman Polanski

Improved Essays
I felt as though the casting choices made by Roman Polanski positively influenced the Macbeth film in many ways. For starters, I enjoyed how such young actors took on the lead roles. Back in the day, Kings lived and died at a very young age so it was more realistic than having an elderly King in control. Francesca Annis did a phenomenal job playing the role of Lady Macbeth. When Francesca acted out the mad scene in the nude, it gave the film a more realistic twist. I felt as though it wouldn’t have been such an intriguing scene if it were to be any other actress. Since it was common for people to sleep in the nude, I appreciated the film more knowing that it was not only accurate to the time period but also up to date with the actors/actress’.

Roman Polanski has a unique taste for telling stories and Shakespeare’s Macbeth is no exception. Throughout the entire film, it is obvious that Polanski has a certain goal in mind when bringing Macbeth to the big screen. His interpretation of Shakespeare’s text, while reading between the lines, leaves the audience shocked at his audacity to be so graphic in his violent scenes. Polanski is known for his dark films especially after the release of Rosemary’s Baby.…

This movie was a different interpretation from the play and I think it was something I have never experienced before in movies. It was very graphic and had parts in the play that were not represented in the movie. In Macbeth movie , Lady Macbeth looks very holy, the way she represents herself through the movie she is wearing usually light color with very little make up and has a face that looks very innocent , in the book i pictured her to look movie evil with how she was described through the book, i was thinking black makeup and black clothing to represent the symbol of how she represents the evil she projects she took part of. Some of the actors like Lochlann harris who plays Fleance ,Michael Fassbender plays Macbeth and Hilton…

The future version of Macbeth is the best interpretation of the play; the setting, character development, theme and production value are all more effective in this version when compared to the stage and modern versions. In Shakespeare’s play Macbeth, Banquo’s death depicts the extent to which Macbeth is willing to go to, simply to obtain power and make the prophecies of the witch come true. Banquo’s death is a key part of the plot as it reveals the Macbeth’s true qualities in both the play and the movie adaptation. The movie, however, has a better adaption as it takes place during the world war and makes the scene much longer compared to the play’s shorter death scene. For example, the movie starts with close up of the murderers, and fades out, with a stern and swift voice; to showcase the significance of the murder. There is a mid-close up towards one of the murderers, with blindfolds on top, to indicate the darkness and the stealth which the murderers have…
