The Beagle-2 project was a project that was designed to go to the planet Mars. It had been sent off and was supposed to take six days to get to Mars. The Beagle-2 had landed but did not give any signal back to Earth saying that it had landed, but that was only because it had lost signal with the solars that provide the spacecrafts signal to send a signal back to earth saying that it has landed. Scientists ended up finding out the beagle-2 had landed by looking at the cameras that are located on or near the planet Mars. They closely examined the pieces of the beagle-2 by printing out a picture from the live footage they were viewing and they made the conclusion that those were the pieces of the beagle-2 which meant that the beagle-2 had landed…

Once a solid rescue mission is in place, NASA mimics tasks that Watney must perform in order to reach a launch site. People in the lab drill holes in the roof of the rover, jump on the top, and fall in, just as Watney does when Scott juxtaposes the two scenes together. Because of the close placement of these frames, Earth and Mars likewise appear to be much closer in location, therefore it seems like hardly any distance separates Watney from his home planet. Additionally, when Commander Lewis temporarily abandons her crew on the Hermes to retrieve Watney flailing around in space, Scott juxtaposes Lewis with Watney, further emphasizing how near Watney is to finally being rescued. As Watney finally has survival within his grasp, Scott juxtaposes Watney’s experiences with those happening on Earth to demonstrate how Watney’s journey for survival is finally coming to an…

Exploring the Moon’s Extreme Environment The Moon is our closest cosmic neighbour, and humans have been exploring it’s surface since we first developed telescopes. Though it can be fun to explore, it is far away, very expensive to go there and it is a very hard place to survive at. Different countries have sent probes that intend to crash to the moon’s surface but capture some photos of the surface before the impact. This was the first way to get scientific information about the moon, and it happened during the 1950’s and 1960’s. Then in 1969, the US became the first country to send people to the moon.…
