Point #1: Character and integrity with people are the solid foundation of an influencer.
Integrity and character are the fuel of trust. Integrity behaves the same with small decisions and big decisions and thereby establishes character. Further, character “commits itself to people over things, to service over power, to principle over convenience, to the long view over the immediate” (Maxwell, & Dornan, chapter 1, section “Integrity is about the small things”). This is far greater and more important than building our reputation. The authors quote William Hersey Davis who says, “Your reputation is made in a moment; your character is built in a lifetime” (Maxwell, & Dornan, chapter 2, section “3 Integrity is Not to Be Confused with Reputation”).
