ESPN, also known as the Entertainment and Sports Programming Network, is the worldwide leader in sports television. It reaches a large amount of sport fans around the world. ESPN is known to t the ability to reach an enormous amount of audiences makes ESPN the most watched sports channel in the United States. It is for this reason that they are able to make their viewers think about certain plays, as well as athletes in a light that many viewers wouldn’t think about. One great example of this can be seen in the influences ESPN has when it comes to making people think or believe that a certain player such as Michael Jordan, is the greatest player of all times. Taking it into a more recent idea, and seeing the greatest plays of all times. It is for this reason that the question arises when it comes to the type of influence that ESPN has with their audience when it comes to sports. …show more content…
His catch was explained to be an acrobatic as well as dynamic use of his athletic skills. At the moment of that catch social media as well as news programs nation wide were at awe. Sportscenter made sure that they did a continuous recap of the game although that catch did not lead to a victory; it caught more attention than the actual score. It was in the headlines, broadcasts and overall it received so much attention that it went way beyond just sports audiences. After the highlight of the game, the reporters turned the focus on the catch by Odell. It received so much attention that even other famous athletes like Lebron James were caught by surprise with the play. He went on to tweet “Man I just witnessed the greatest catch ever possibly by Odell Beckham Jr.!
