Contemporary Feminist, Jewish Interpretation Mitzvot and the status of women for contemporary feminist Jews is an area in which the status of biblical and rabbinic texts can be challenged, (re)interpreted, and subverted. For feminist Jews today the status of women and mitzvot can be understood as a site for reclamation and contesting ideals of gender inequality. However, the category of contemporary feminist Jews must be interrogated for its limitations. In using the category of feminist Jews there is the exclusion of many people, who do not identify as feminists, who are also engaged in the work of interpretation and subversion. Thus, when speaking of feminist Jews we are speaking to a specific forms of interpretation
