This program will allow me to delve into the microscopic physiology that keeps us alive and discover the technology and engineering practices that are advancing medicine. In addition, the University of Michigan’s breadth of teaching and consistency of excellence in all areas of study will allow me to pursue other interests, like language and cultural studies, with success. And their affordability and location made the choice even easier.
The lab experience I had this summer also greatly impacted my career goals. Before, I aspired to go to medical school and become a doctor in oncology. But after many lengthy discussions with the Professor I worked for, who earned his MD/Ph.D. and practices while researching and teaching at Harvard University, I was inspired to follow a similar path. My current plan is to get an MD/Ph.D. degree and do stem cell engineering research, as I believe there is a lot of potential in that field for solving major health
