Monkey's Paw Compare And Contrast Essay

Improved Essays
I will be comparing the book and movie of a monkey’s paw. I think it is very important the we know how to compare things.

The same thing in both the movie and the text was the beginning when the son and dad play chess. Then they wait for the sergeant. Next the sergeant tells about how he gained the monkey’s paw. The dad then took the monkey’s paw.

In both movie and book, the dad makes a wish for 300 pounds. So therefore the son dies. The dad recieves the money out of the conversation

In my opinion both the movie and the book are both very strange, confusing, and some very inapropriate words in the movie. The book was more confusing than the movie. They both were also very weird. That is what i think about the movie and the book and the similarities and differences between the two.

Bebo is the villian because he was rude to Rudy. Rudy is also the innocent youth because he never gave up on his dreams. Last but not least Alfredo is the mentor because he guides Rudy.

The story I chose is called Rikki-Tikki-Tavi. In Rikki-Tikki-Tavi the hero is Rikki because he saves the animals. Nag and Nagana are the villians because their the snakes. The innocent youth is Chuchandra because he’s a broken hearted beast. Dad is the mentor because he teaches Rikki how to live his life and what is good and bad.

These two stories are alike or similar because they both have a hero, a villian, a innocent youth, and a mentor.

I think Rikki-Tikki-Tavi has the best hero, villian, innocent youth, and mentor, because the reasons that they are these things are more detailed.

This is how i think That October and Rikki-Tikki-Tavi are alike and different.

My character is going to be BobbiAnn Richardson. Bobbi is an awesome person, friend, and says what she thinks.

The movie and the book have similarities between the characters, the setting, and the conflict. One aspect of similarities between the movie and the book is the characters. From the movie Rikki-Tikki-Tavi is the protagonist, and the antagonists are Nag and Nagaina. Rikki- tikki-tavi is a house mongoose around the family, however his eyes become red, and the book describes “he could fluff up his tail till it looked like a bottlebrush” (Kipling 143).…

In Rudyard Kipling's fiction story, "Rikki-tikki-tavi", the theme of good vs. evil is demonstrated through Rikki's actions during his many conflicts within the story. For example, in page 26 it tells us that Karait tried to kill teddy but Riki saved teddy's life. And page 28-33 talks about nag and nagina trying to kill the family. Last on page 32-34 it tells us about nagina trying to kill rikki tikki. I think the theme is good vs evil.…

Although we have not finish watching the movie completely, as of now, I favor the book over the movie. I find many of the major aspects in the book lost within the movie. First of all, the movie is has no first person narrator. The main character still remains as McMurphy but the significance of Chief Bromden is lost. He is played out as a minor character in the movie.…

In the story “Rikki-tikki-tavi” the three main topics we talk about are Rikki tikki,Nagaina, and last the theme of the whole story. First, Rikki-tikki has many human characteristics. For instance, “I didn’t so you must tell me, quick, Chuchundra or i’ll bite you”(Kipling 14). Even though Rikki-tikki is courageous he is still very aggressive at times with other animals.…

The movie is very different from the book because sometimes in the book they include more details than in the movie. In the movies they spend a lot of time filming everything and sometimes one scene takes all day to film. In the book is something similar but not too much because in the book they take time to write everything and then to convert it into a book but what do you think. Something that they have in common is that they are written by the same author and it take place in the same year, but this is not always because sometimes they film the movie years after the book.…

The two comparations that I have is one that is a book, “Making bombs for Hitler” by Marsha F Skrypuch. The book’s setting is during World War II. It is about a girl named Lida who is from the Ukraine who is separated from her sister and is taken by Nazis who put her into a concentration camp and is forced with other children to help them in hospitals, sewing uniforms and of course making the bombs. Her main goal is to get out and find her sister. The other comparation that I am making with this book is the the 2012 musical movie, “Les misérables”, directed by Tom Cooper.…

William W. Jacobs displays his existentialist nature through themes of freedom, responsibility, and death. In “The Monkey’s Paw,” Jacobs demonstrates these themes progressively through his characters and their actions after a cursed talisman eradicates all limitations. Arash Farzaneh defines existentialism as the measurement of humankind’s “responsibility when facing a universe devoid of laws.” Fundamentally unbound by religious conviction, humankind is required to take responsibility for their actions accordingly if they are to be truly free (Farzaneh). Jacobs establishes through his character Mr. White that humanity must accept responsibility for their own choices, regardless of the consequences that may follow.…
