F lived here throughout the Great Depression, but as his father was never out of work, they were relatively unaffected. However, he does remember beggars coming to the door and his mother giving them scrambled eggs and a few other food items. This home is where he began his musical inclining’s. He remembers having to sing for his parent’s guests which was rather embarrassing. He moved onto accordion and then at fourteen began the piano. As he grew older, the small community turned to truck farms which brought shops to the area. Mr. F also has fond memories of visiting his grandparent’s farm as a child. When his father realized that music could be turned into a career, he became very supportive of Mr. F’s musical endeavors and even took him to a performance in St. Louis his freshman year of high school.
