My Definition Of Success Essay

For millions of people success is equated with material wealth, especially in our American culture. However, I believe success isn’t measured or defined by monetary wealth. I believe that at the end of a person’s life, true success should be measured by how many people they touched positively. People who go out and inspire others, in my opinion, are the people who are truly successful. Thus, I am excited to be entering a profession that doesn’t pay financially well, but the intrinsic reward can be great. My dream is to teach in an inner city school, because my current practicum inspired me to do so. I’m currently doing my teaching practicum in a high school where many of these students come from disadvantaged backgrounds. These students have taught me the joy of intrinsic rewards. I have realized that true joy doesn’t come from money but people. At the end of the day, I discovered it’s all about helping each other. Thus, my plans to be successful are quite simple: teaching in an inner city school, showing students love, helping my students understand their great worth, and being the teacher who empowers and inspires students. …show more content…
Yet, I believe that while this is true to an extent, the real reason our world continues to spin is because of people who love others. The people who go out and love are truly those who are shaping and helping our world spin.
