My Hero Story

My Hero Story A hero isn't measured by their strength, but by the strength of their heart.-Walt Disney. My hero is Pam Curry (AKA Mrs.Pam.) I chose her as my hero because she is my piano teacher and is always helping me to improve my piano playing. Mrs.Pam also sings in the choir at my church and I love to listen to the choir there. I am glad that I have her as my piano teacher, because she will do anything to help me understand what I am about to do (even if it can be hard at times). Mrs.Pam is always encouraging and enthusiastic, plus she greets me every time I see her with a smile. I think that Mrs.Pam is a hero because of all that she does for me. Mrs.Pam is always nice to everybody and she will share a laugh with you. I think that

When my mom was 15 years old she was married to my 19 year old father. They got pregnant about a year later at the age of 16. This may seem irrelevant because she was just a typical girl living her life, but her life would be changed forever. Rachel Bragg was six months pregnant when she was in the fatal car accident, resulting in utter turmoil. My dad, mom, and aunt were driving in bumpy hills when they were speeding.…

I felt that each video was helpful in its' own way. Personally, the 'What Makes A Hero' video was the most helpful/informative video for me. Basically, it explained the common Hero's journey archetype which takes place in many stories. Essentially, the hero in a story is the archetypal predecessor of all humankind in general. The modern day hero is a culmination our ancestors' experiences over many generations.…

The autumn breeze was cool against his skin as Steve walked through the numerous gravestones at Arlington. The grave stones were a light grey that looked less grim in the bright sunshine than they would have had it been a grey and dreary day. That was good though, because Steve had been aiming for a day that was bright and as cloudless as possible. The day didn’t have to be gloomy just because he was here to visit the graves of several of his old friends. Old friends that had passed on and left him behind while he lay frozen.…

Sunsetter gazed at the stars fading and gleaming on her space-like skin. She was waiting in a large dip with the other people who Starwave had summoned to her castle. Engysi had his feet up on the coffee table in the center, and played around with the blue rings surrounding him. Helix was floating above the couches with Galexi, blinking with his ‘X’-shaped eyes and talking to each other. Sephied was hunched over in deep thought, while Neklardia was humming softly to himself.…

Looking back at the dock, the security of solid land gets smaller and smaller. I think of how my crew and I had to lug our gear- diving suits, flippers, goggles, BSD vests, regulators, bulky air tanks and all- onto the boat. I turn my eyes to the blue abyss ahead of me, but it is not the soft light blue-green that we find at the shallow end but the deeper, more somber blue that represents the enigma of the ocean and the journey that lies ahead of me. Then the boat stops moving and it's time to get ready for our first dive.…

When I had first heard about Dunes through youth group at Good Shepherd, I thought it would be a fun three day trip to the beach with a bunch of my good friends. Little did I know, I would learn many new things that really inspired me and persuaded me to grow in ways I never thought I was capable of. Not only were these three days at the beach a very fun time with my friends, it was somewhat very emotional as well. I learned so many new things about my peers and watched their relationship with God grow. I can confidently say that without Dunes, I wouldn't be the person I am today, and I am extremely thankful that I went and had the time of my life.…

I was heading out the door of my two story home in the middle of nowhere. I held in one last breath of the sweet smelling pines next to my house as I headed to my car for the big trip. My family had finally decided to take a long cross-country trip, and I was included. As I got into the Jeep, I could swear something was wrong, but I couldn't place it. We were on the road for about a half an hour when I realized what I forgot.…

After flinging my school bag onto my back in an angry manner, i left my empty casing of a family home slamming the door behind me. Usually at this point I would walk the family gremlin to school because sadly we went to the same one, but the daily argument happened 20 minutes before scheduled so she wasn't even ready yet, luckily. I was now in my element. Music on, world off. I went along the same route, passing all the same oak trees, taking all the right roads as per normal.…

Inadvertently I stumbled upon something that I would take for granted as a refuge. A refuge in which I could express myself, my emotions and transfer them into a visual reality. For once I did not acknowledge the presence of the crutches beside me. Hesitant at first then gradually getting more bold with each sweep of the hand, my depressed state faded away as color expanded across the canvas and replaced itself with one of hunger and awe. This was the day art pulled me by the arm me and forced me to expand its importance in my life.…
