There are many different outlooks on life. Some believe that the world we exist in is meaningless and that nothing we do will be of importance. Others, however, have a much more lighthearted approach, focusing on enjoying their lives as much as possible and looking for enjoyable activities to partake in. This search for a purpose in life, or existentialism, shapes our realities and our ambitions.…

In this article, A lifetime of student Debt? Not Likely, Robin Wilson argues that student- loan borrowing is threatening the financial future of today’s college students. According, to Michael S. McPherson, an economist and president of the Spencer foundation, students “more often, the problem among students who go heavily into debt is that they are determined to attend their dream college, no matter the cost.” His argument is that students who attend the best colleges will enroll no matter how much the cost will be. For room and board college cost an average of 18,326 a year, but should be less because of financial aid that’s available, but students are borrowing much more like, 40,000.…

What is the meaning of life, - a philosophical and spiritual problem that is relevant to the determination of the ultimate goal of existence, the purpose of mankind, the human species, is one of the basic philosophical concepts, which has great significance for the development of spiritual and moral character of the person. The question of the meaning of life can also be understood as a subjective evaluation of your life path and understanding of human content and direction of his life, his place in the world as a problem of human impact on the surrounding reality and putting human purpose beyond his life. This is the starting point of Daniel Hill’s article «The Meaning of life. Daniel Hill argues that without God, life would be meaningless. »…

The main reason why I think that HACC is the best choice for me is because of the cost. The rates per credit are around $250 and that is for in-state residents. The total cost for a commuter would be around $13,750 for a student who is full time, which means they are taking 12 credits per term (Stager). This price of $13,750 includes the price of books, supplies, food, and transportation and it is an average price for all HACC students (HACC.edu). I think that I could easily cut some of the cost by trying to buy my books online for a cheaper price or even eating at home to save a lot of money.…

Part of your most recent plan was to be here now, you chose this human existence that you are currently experiencing, you pre- planned every detail of your life in order to gain the maximum learning and adventure, and you choose to exit when you have completed all the experiences you planned for yourself. The world away from this world (the universe) is not separate from us, it is not some far away mystery; it is a logical, functioning, populated, progressive, divine place! Much like here on earth (without all the stuff), except here on earth we have temporarily forgotten the divine and infinite bits of ourselves! If I can be a bit honest here, as humans we have become self-obsessed, self-absorbed and rather blinded by our own self-importance.…

In her essay “Meaning in Life and Why It Matters,” Susan Wolf discusses the reasons that contribute to meaning in our lives and argues that we should “understand meaningfulness as an attribute lives can have that is not reducible to or subsumable under either happiness, as it is ordinarily understood, or morality” (3). In laying out her beliefs of how we can find meaning, she discusses different viewpoints and offers suggestions of how they should be altered and combined to make a more accurate theory she calls the ‘Fitting Fulfillment View.’ In this paper I will explain the details of the Fitting Fulfillment View as described by Wolf as well as why it is important to talk about meaning and how we can judge whether something is meaningful or not. Through looking at the example of education, I will prove that Wolf’s account is reasonable, versatile, and…

I am grateful to have this opportunity to share my story, to share my own life experience, as I know there are thousands of immigrant families that have gone through the same situation I am in.
