Leadership is the ability to be the influential source in motivating others to do their best in any given situation. Leadership cannot emerge solely from one individual but from a network of interactions and in context (Montuori, 2010). It is the responsibility of a leader to be the catalyst of change in order to help teachers be better than they are, to be a source of inspiration and encouragement, and to feel empowered by knowing they are providing the best they are capable for student achievement. Leadership means to enhance a teacher’s sense of worthiness and a sense of pride that drives reflection and exploration of their own practices to become more than they thought they could be.

Leadership style An intelligent leader recognizes the essentiality of his/her staff. They take advantage of the uniqueness and strengths of each member while maintaining unity and a shared vision (Winston & Patterson, 2006). One can only achieve this by ensuring they are capable of instilling the four basic attributes of transformational leadership: idealized influence (or charisma), inspirational motivation, individualized consideration, and intellectual stimulation. Idealized leadership is based on leading by example and elicits respect and trust from your staff. Inspirational leadership refers to the leader’s ability to communicate clearly a compelling vision that is based on individual and collective goals; goals that take into consideration not only the organizations need for growth, but also the individuals need for learning and recognition (Bateh & Heyliger, 2014). I help to develop and grow teachers by demonstrating my own willingness to learn, step outside of my comfort zone, and experience and experiment with new and innovative ways to approach student learning.
