I think that paraphrasing will be the hardest for me to avoid while writing. It seems that sometimes it is hard to write or summarize something that is so well written already. The way I will work around that is to stop and re-read what I am wanting to summarize, take a few important words out of the material I am reviewing and jot those down, then go back and write what is needed to complete my sentence or idea. Once I have completed my writing, I will review and make sure I have properly cited my work. Using the guidelines discussed in our “Read Section”, and following the instructions listed on how to source correctly should avoid paraphrasing mistakes and plagiarism. I feel the same way you do. Paraphrasing is my challenge when writing. I have decided to read my information twice and pick out the key words in the information I am reviewing to help me compose my thoughts and just summarize the important items. Also, making sure I am citing correctly after I have summarized the information can be an additional challenge but I think I am getting better at that.

I too find paraphrasing the hardest form of plagiarism to avoid. Trying to summarize what someone else said, who said it very intelligently is a challenge. I found it easier if I pick out the key words in the information I am trying to summarize and then put my thoughts together. Making sure you cite the work properly is key. Sometimes when we are summarizing we don’t realize it is pretty close to what the author has already stated so making sure we cite our writing will prevent us from
