Becoming a good citizen required education and familiarity of the duties and responsibilities of an upstanding citizen. Young people need to be taught the seriousness and gravity of voting, something I had unfortunately missed out on. Parents and educators have a duty to young people to apprise and acquaint them of the United States political process. Teaching them how to make decisions, and to read between the lines of all the rhetoric, pandering and fear-mongering spouted by the politicians. Everyone needs to learn how to take the media and pundit’s biased information with a grain of salt, how to make their own decisions and not be swayed by empty promises of candidates willing to say and do anything to win a vote. It’s time to learn that all that glitters is not
