“Mother, Father people are here! They are attacking the village!” I yelled.
“Girls get inside now,” Mother said as she opened a floor door. I climbed in and helped my little sister in. We tunneled through until we found an opening. We were at the back of the house. I could hear my mother …show more content…
They turned and looked around. They didn’t know where my voice had come from. One let Father go, and he started to kick the Viking that had my Mother. She stomped on his foot and broke free. The attackers started to grab Mother again! I grabbed an old log and chucked it in the air. It landed about ten feet away. You could hear the brush moving.
“Leave them!” the attacker hollered.
Mother and Father came to the tree once the attackers were out of sight.
“Common my brave children,” he led us into the tunnel again. We stayed there for a while until all was silent. I hugged Mother and Father.
“My smart child,” my Mother whispered. She was crying. We slept in the tunnel through the night.
Father opened the door and walked out slowly. He came back soon afterward.

We ran out of the house and looked around. The raiders had destroyed the village. We went to the beach and looked over the blue waters. Their ships were nearly gone. We started to haul buckets to put out the fire in our neighbor's house. All of them were gone.

“Here you are,” he smiled, “ and thank-you for your help.” I bowed and went back home.
I found many children and told them to come with me. Three girls, two boys, and a baby in my arms came with me to my home. Father and Mother were cleaning up, many other people were cleaning the shore. I walked the children to the beach. I went to people I knew and reunited their children. I had one girl left. She pointed to the sea.
“They were taken,” she whispered.
“Did you see?” I asked the little girl.
“Yes.”
“Come with me now and let’s collect seashells.” We collected sea shells for a while. I gave her a tomato from the shopkeeper.
“Come home with me,” I told her as she took my hand and we headed home. We walked in the house. Mother took the little girl by the hand and brought her to the water bucket. She gave her a bath. I gave Mother and old dress of mine. She clothes the little girl.
“Now how about some dinner.” Mother grabbed the tomato basket and went to the kitchen.
“They captured a Viking,” Father started, “he is from Scandinavia. They had raided Sweden before they came to here to
