"Cherokee 952, you are cleared to take off on runway 28.” "Roger, we are rolling on runway 28, Cherokee 952.” I always wanted to fly since I was young. When I was seventeen, I got myself into the world of flight. Stepping into aviation needed a lot of preparation, and I spent a long and dedicated year to prepare myself. I applied to a flight school after I immigrated to America; however, I was rejected because of my language ability and physical fitness. In the following year, I worked hard on English in school, took summer class, and had after school tutoring. A year later, I was classified as a regular English speaker. On my physical health, I had nasal rhinitis, so I had to take allergy shot twice a week for a few year. The medical clinic …show more content…
I became the vice-president for Manga Creation Society and secretary officer for Asian Pacific Environmental Network, most APEN's members are immigrants, in school. From my previous experience as a newcomer, I underwent the difficulty of adapting to a new society. Therefore, club's administers and I often organized volunteer service opportunities in community for club members because we hoped them to get into new society quickly through these activities. Also, I became a volunteer in Oakland Aviation Museum. My responsibilities in museum were tour guiding and aircraft maintenance. However, I was not interested to become a tour guide at first because I did not like talking English with strangers. Museum director encouraged me that I should overcome my weakness, so I accepted the challenge. At first, I often spoke slowly to tourists and sometimes had to repeat. Through a period of time, I generally became confidence in speaking English in front of people. In aircraft maintenance, I had chances to work on aircraft maintenance with technicians, and I learnt plenty of airplane system knowledge, which helped me on future flight
