My mom, my little sister, and I were trick-or-treating. We had just left Carthage and were headed to see my older sister in Westmoore. We were almost there, then our bodies were slung forward and there was smoke everywhere. We had just been hit by a van head on. We were all wearing seatbelts, I was in a booster seat, and my sister was in a car seat. My mom’s leg had been broken, my sister had internal damage to her liver, and the lap belt had cut me open. The cut required seven stitches on the inside and eight stitches on the outside. After the wreck we were told how the seat belts and appropriate car seats had saved our lives. Our seatbelts and carseats are why we are all here
