Digging through the wreckage of the Nystroms’ house took many days. Several volunteers came to help, for which Martha was grateful. Still, the project lasted much longer than she’d hoped. She wanted to find him as quickly as possible. The house had caught on fire late in the evening, and the blaze had spread rapidly. Calling for Ella, Martha had hurried out immediately and called the fire department, but she never saw her daughter emerge. Even those who had seen Springtrap enter the burning house seemed to think they had imagined it. Everyone seemed to have forgotten about the so-called “alien invasion” on the east side of town, attributing the deaths and injuries to wild animals or some deranged murderer. Only those directly associated remembered, and the police never questioned Kyle any further. It was probably a spirit thing. Paranormal occurrences always dwindled to myth and legend. Now that the last of the Fazbear spirits had been freed, the whole thing became just another ghost story.
