On that point, it may help if they were able to schedule different times for different activities such as from 3:00 to 5:00 they have volleyball practice, 6:15 to 8:00 they do homework while eating, 8:00 to 8:45 they have family time, 8:45 to 9:30 they work on their volunteer activities, and then they go to sleep. While this may not seem like the best way to go it keeps you organized, which is a key element. If they are organized than assignments and projects are better able to get do ahead of time. Procrastinators Another common theme in high school is where the student will put off tasks until the absolute last minute. Notably many times this is paired simultaneously with caffeine, sugar, energy drinks, sleepless nights, and other things that come with it as well. Procrastination starts in early adolescence due to an active and passive resistance to parental authority, which empowers them. Procrastination requires both delay and denial, being able to pretend for a moment that in does not exist. It is much the same as the overachiever in the fact that it can create stress. For them it is more of a hassle to get the assignment and be ‘nagged’ by everyone about it, than it is to just forget about completely doing the project. Under the circumstances giving tips to this category of students is much harder do to the fact that even if they did get advice they probably would not fallow it. Not only that but there is not any advice that could be found; besides maybe do your work and go to school. In order to have a better, more successful future you need to get your work done, no matter how much you dislike the task. As can be seen you can see there are many ways to learn and retain the information. Depending upon the student you could be considered in one of the three categories; Overachievers, Procrastinators, or a Skippers. Maybe you are an overachiever, who gets everything done ahead of time, or pushing it off until the last minute-Procrastinator, or even not doing anything-Skipper.
